You submitted everything and paid, and now the status just sits there: “Under Review.” Maybe it says “Under Process.” Either way, you’re stuck refreshing the page and wondering if your trip is in trouble. Take a breath. UAE visa under review does not mean rejected. It means no final decision has been made yet. What matters is how long it has been sitting there and whether anyone has asked you for something.

If the status hasn’t moved past the normal processing window, don’t just wait it out. Check your details, contact your visa provider, and find out if action is needed. Here’s how to work that out.

What Does “UAE Visa Under Review” Mean?

Think of it as “not decided yet.” Official UAE guidance tells you where to track an application, but it doesn’t publish a universal dictionary for every status label. So treat the table below as a general guide, not a government definition.

Find the reason before reapplying

A UAE visa under process is usually routine. Under review is what takes to closer point to look, but not always.

Why Is My UAE Visa Application Still Under Review?

No single reason fits everyone. These are the ones we see most often.

1. Additional Verification Is Required

Some applications need extra checking before a decision. That can involve applicant details, passport information, supporting documents, or sponsor information. It’s usually routine, not a red flag.

2. There’s an Issue With Your Documents

A blurry passport scan, a cropped coppy, a poor photo, or details that contradict each other across documents can all hold things up. A document problem often keeps an application in limbo instead of triggering an instant rejection.

3. Your Details Don’t Match Your Passport

Check spelling, surname order, passport number, date of birth, and nationality. One swapped digit is enough to cause trouble. That said, not every mismatch causes a delay.

4. Your Previous UAE Visa History May Need Checking

An earlier visa, overstay, cancellation, rejection, or duplicate application may call for extra verification. It’s a possible factor, not a guarantee. Plenty of people with past issues get approved without a hitch.

5. Busy Periods Slow Things Down

Eid, school holidays, and peak travel weeks can stretch processing. But an unchanged status alone doesn’t tell you why your application is slow. Don’t assume it’s just the season.

6. Your Application Is With a Different Authority

Dubai applications go through GDRFA. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah go through ICP. Search the wrong portal and you’ll get “no result found,” which people often mistake for rejection. It isn’t.

How Long Can a UAE Visa Stay Under Review?

I won’t promise an exact number, because timelines genuinely vary. Standard applications commonly take around 3–5 working days, while an express UAE visa is usually quicker, often 24–48 hours. Use that as a rough frame.

Still Inside the Normal Window

Don’t panic, and don’t file a second application. Keep your reference number handy and watch your email and WhatsApp for messages from your provider.

Past the Normal Window

Recheck your details. Ask your provider if anything is pending. Confirm you’re checking the right authority, and ask whether a follow-up makes sense.

Flying Very Soon

Flight in 24–48 hours? Contact your visa provider right away. Don’t sit and wait for the portal to update.

What to Do If Your UAE Visa Is Still Under Review

  1. Check the exact status. Application status, visa validity, and issued-visa status are three different things.
  2. Confirm the authority. Dubai means GDRFA. The other six emirates mean ICP.
  3. Review your details. Passport number, name, date of birth, nationality, passport validity, and uploaded documents.
  4. Check your messages. Email, SMS, and WhatsApp, especially if an agent submitted for you.
  5. Ask the right question. Skip “What’s the status?” Ask: “Is my application in normal processing, or has immigration asked for more information?”
  6. Don’t apply again without guidance.

Should I Apply for Another UAE Visa While Mine Is Under Review?

Usually, no. Before you do anything, find out whether the original application is still active, whether your provider has said it can’t proceed, whether it was actually rejected, and whether anyone told you to reapply.

A duplicate submission can create confusion and may complicate the original. It doesn’t automatically cause a rejection, but it’s a risk you can avoid with one quick question.

What If Your UAE Visa Status Hasn’t Changed in Several Days?

Forget any “72-hour rule.” Match your situation instead:

This covers most cases of a UAE visa delayed, UAE visa pending, or a status that simply isn’t updating.

How to Check Your UAE Visa Application Status

Keep it simple. For Dubai applications, use the GDRFA Dubai portal. For the other emirates, use ICP. Always go to the official authority, since we’re a visa service, not the government’s status portal.
